3. Nene Tsuboi: Marumaru Mugs, 2009

Nene Tsuboi is one of our favourite designers, based in Helsinki, originally from Osaka. She made these Marumaru mugs for Iittala in 2008. To remember the unique collection of handmade mugs she made a book of them, and it makes a nice a animation too!

4. Ghanavision - Hand-painted Film Posters from Ghana, 2009

In the 1980s in West Africa artists were commissioned to handpaint posters to promote mobile cinema screenings. The artists had often seen only a few stills to guide them - so they added or changed scenes, tossed in a few mutant monsters, anything to catch the eye. Sadly, by the end of the 1990s the mobile cinema business had declined as television became more widely available in Ghana. This wonderfully illustrated book commemorates a glorious moment in popular art.

Hard cover, Full colour, 64 pages, 17,5 x 24 cm. Text: English/ French/ German
